While the hotel itself is beautiful, with friendly and helpful staff and a stunning location, the bathroom was a major disappointment that significantly affected our stay.
Almost everything in the bathroom was broken. Both the sink and tub faucets were nearly useless. The sink handles twisted almost 360 degrees, making it difficult to turn off without finding the "sweet spot." The bathtub/shower faucet was even worse—it was nearly impossible to adjust to a comfortable temperature. Turning the knob cycled through the cold water, then a dead zone where the water shut off completely, before returning with scalding hot water.
The drain plug was also broken, forcing us to completely unscrew it just to empty the tub when the kids took a bath.
The toilet was another issue—it ran endlessly after flushing unless the handle was jiggled *just right*.
On top of that, water damage was visible throughout the bathroom, even inside the frame and the glass of the artwork above the toilet.
Beyond the bathroom, the hotel’s cleanliness was a bit questionable beyond the main entrance. After walking barefoot from the pool to our room just once, the bottoms of our feet were black.
I have never been more disappointed in a hotel stay than this one. We were excited for our visit to Lakeway Resort and paid more for this hotel than any other stop on our family vacation—yet the two more affordable hotels we stayed at had far superior bathrooms that were on par with the luxury we expected.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

If I could give 0 Stars, I would. NOT a resort by any means. Be prepared for the $300 deposit on top of resort fee at check in for incidentals. Service was subpar. Food....you are better off going to eat at McDonald's. Hampton Inn or the back seat of your car might honestly be a better option. Rooms as well as hallways have a musty smell. Poor lighting in the rooms. Bad parking. Extremely underwhelming. Rock solid beds. Horrible waitstaff. Very outdated and rundown. DO NOT waste your time or money on the drive to get there. I think the only reason it has such high ratings are because they have a good happy hour menu...people are too drunk to realize they are sitting at a 1 star hotel.

Beautiful Location, But Not Truly Pet-Friendly

This resort is NOT dog-friendly. Despite claiming to have a dog-friendly floor, they asked us to move due to noise complaints just 15 minutes after check-in. As respectful pet owners, we understand occasional barking can be bothersome, but truly pet-friendly resorts manage this better. The next day, they nearly asked us to move again. Frustrated, we stayed in our room but ultimately checked out early, cutting short our Austin trip for my husband’s birthday. We’ve stayed at genuinely pet-friendly resorts where dedicated pet floors prevent these issues.

You cannot miss this experience if you come to Austin, Texas!!!

I had a complete facial experience today at the Lakeway Spa and Resort with Bryn and it was simply amazing! The spa experience here is first-class and a ‘must-do’ when you come to Austin. Ask for Bryn and you will be treated to a very relaxing visit with the service provided by such an experienced skin care professional. My skin felt great all throughout the day. I will definitely be coming back and will ask for this person on all my future visits.
