Lovely B&B with bookable evening meal options. Very comfy bed. Great hosts.

We stayed for 2 nights whilst enjoying a day's rally experience at Phil Price Rally School nearby. Very comfortable room and bed, quiet and with lovely hosts - thanks Ying and Vince. The accommodation offers B&B with freshly cooked breakfast and bookable evening meal with varied A'la Carte options, which are brilliantly cooked by the lovely Ying. Perfect stay - thank you.

Very average hotel with great food.

The Hotel was a pub until recently but now serves only guests. A limited drinks bar with only two draught lagers available. The rest of the drinks bar a local cider are all over priced bottles. The food is cooked from a very limited menu but cooked fresh and hot by a very talented chef named Ying, a true Thai native. Choices on Thai food mainly on that menu. I had the Red Curry and it was spectacular. Limited veg selection but Duchess pie was acceptable but not home made and very much average.
Prices are very high for Thai establishment given its very remote location and menu, but there is no alternative anywhere to eat, so you are captive. We ordered for three of us and the bill came to just under £100.00.
The hotel accomodation is also very expensive given the quality of rooms and fittings.
Access only from outside, 12 or more steel steep stairs and a non existent momentary light. Security is minimal for the room. Heating is ok but non-controllable after hours of programming at the owner’s discretion.
Beds are stained pine, very hard and basic, the bedding more so. Cheap hard pillows.
The bathroom is clean but clinical. No luxuries, just a giant cheap hand wash and shower bottle. Shower is low flow electric. Toilet has no brush and the door no lock.
Imagine a Premier Inn room and this is a little more basic. TV is microscopic and has only 6 channels, all free view.
Decor is bland.
The eating area was silent, without atmosphere and basic and we were told they wouldn’t be lighting the log fire, despite the cold autumn night.
All in all a disappointment given the cost of the remote location. Nowhere enjoyable to sit and have a pint.
Would suggest elsewhere but for the great food. Breakfast was cooked hot and fresh but was mean with just one sausage, one egg, one bacon strip, a few beans and one tomato. Very small portions, but cooked well. Ying is the saviour and owner of the business the husband sat and drank whilst we ate.
Summary: Too expensive, not enough comfort, no atmosphere and in the middle of absolutely nowhere!!

One of the best stays ever.

The experience was fantastic. From arrival and the very warm welcome, the cleanliness of the room, the food and the general ambience was everything you could have wished for.
When you normally look at photos on websites, you hope they will be as good as they are, but this place is the bees knees.
Thank you for a great stay and look forward to coming back.

The four hundred year old part of the property has been retained with suitable furnishings, our room was very clean, tidy & comfortable.
The hosts are very friendly & helpful, the homemade food is of the highest quality, with very generous portions.
We can now understand why the Castle Inn is so popular.

Nice friendly staff, have stayed quiet a few times, as we have family, in the village.
