Solid business hotel
The room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is good and reliable. And the staff is very friendly.
I like a hotel with a gym and this one is fine. The cardio equipment is ok, with some prices being dated. The weight area is nice and clean. And the stretching area is good when weather permits.
Would recommend this hotel. It is where I prefer to stay when I visit this area.

Spacious, if old fashioned, rooms (no usb sockets!). Terrible service!
Our issues started at check in. Having given us the room key for a 2 night stay, we were then told that we couldn't unpack anything as we would be moving rooms the next morning! This stay was part of a much longer trip and we needed to unpack and get sorted for the next phase. We asked to be moved to a room where we could unpack but were told that they had no spare rooms. Amazingly after our local agent had spoken to them, we were moved to a better room where we could unpack! Getting agreement to move took 3 hours! Not a great start...
The next morning our room key didn't work in the lift but as we then discovered, most keys weren't working following a recent software reset. Chaos! Having managed to get down to breakfast we then got stuck in the lift for 40 minutes, going back to our room. Once again, the software reset was to blame apparently. The staff were apologetic but we were late for our planned tour and were very upset by the event.
Having been out all day, we were keen to go to our room and freshen up but oh no! The software reset wouldn't allow that and we had to wait for 15+ minutes. At least we were offered tea ..
Suffice to say that our room didn't work for the remainder of our trip which made leaving the room very difficult.
In the end, the staff were apologetic and offered us money towards our dinner and brought some goodies for our anniversary.
We did talk to another, regular guest who said that the hotel was normally much better run but at the moment, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!
