Perfect getaway for a romantic getaway!
With Serra da Gardunha as a backdrop, and Serra da Estrela on the horizon, Convento do Seixo Boutique Hotel & Spa offers a stay where the purest and most natural environment gains a special refinement.
The Hotel captivates from the first minute, at its sweeping entrance, directly onto the convent's old church, its corners, history, comfort and authenticity in service, with the friendliness of Joana Marques, offer us a feeling of immediate comfort, a welcome treat at Bar XVI which is located in the old Convent church, with a collection of carefully chosen wines, cocktails and liqueurs from the region, we are at home!
The BODHI Spa with a heated indoor pool (a little cold) with a dynamic water circuit, waterfalls, different underwater jets and hydromassage beds is a serene place to enjoy moments of relaxation. (small with only 6 beds).
When the weather is warm, enjoying the outdoor pool that is in contact with the green nature of the neighboring park will be a privilege not to be missed. Parque do Convento has a children's playground, we can go mountain biking, climbing walls, or just stroll and picnic in the picnic area. The hotel also has a paddle tennis court.
We took advantage of our stay to delight in the flavors of the region in the hotel restaurant “Pecado”, which presents a fine dining concept, with signature cuisine to taste the exquisite dishes prepared by Chef Gonçalo Maria Santos Filipe, (unfortunately we didn't have the pleasure of meeting personally) who took us on a unique gastronomic journey, in an elegant environment full of history and sophistication, an authentic “pecado”, with tasting menus, “Camélia” with 4 moments and “Pecado” with 6 moments respectively. We opted for “Pecado” with the chef’s surprise choice, which was very good, until the 5th moment “Duck with garnished potatoes, honey, spices and apricot” which in our opinion was the least successful, but without compromising the final result of the dinner.
At the end of the day, we return to our superior room and enjoy a night of pure comfort. The design of this typology has a balanced combination of modern decoration with 16th century heritage.

More fame than profit
Advertising itself as a SPA, the pool is nothing more than a small tank with some jets (one of them inoperative) and two bubble beds, in a space clearly unsuitable for the hotel's capacity. It is worth noting that the water temperature is negatively affected, as is excess chlorine. We also found it strange that the customer had to turn on the sauna.
Meals, we only enjoyed breakfast, nothing to write home about although I expected more considering that it is a 5-star hotel.
Good sized rooms, quiet, providing a good rest. On the negative side, little storage space in the closet, lack of a desk and chair, empty fridge and lack of a kettle, although there was a coffee machine.
Bathroom also of good size, however, lacking a storage cupboard and towel rails that should have been heated for drying towels and even though we complained, they remained unplugged during our stay.
It is also worth highlighting, negatively, the cafeteria's time restrictions, that is, if you want a snack, you can only order it until 7pm.
The hotel is beautiful, has an outdoor area that will be pleasant in good weather in the summer, but overall it is excessively expensive for what it offers.
