Unbeatable Value

The breakfast was exceptional - we stayed almost a week and never had the same breakfast twice! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There was usually a guard watching the main gate, and even though we frequently had to leave early in the morning for excursions, there was always someone ready to let us out. The location is also quite convenient (no further than a 10 minute car ride or 30 minute walk to any part of the city), and there are a variety of inexpensive and high-end restaurants nearby. The only minor issues we encountered was that the wifi connection was somewhat inconsistent and the bathroom door was a sliding screen that often came off the track.

Disappointing

Windows did not close properly so the room was very noisy and a lot of mosquitos were coming into the room, and there was no mosquito net. The toilet was leaking and there was no shower curtain so bathroom was a mess. Finally reception did not have money so they kept the change of our payment telling us they were goining to give us our money back later. Definitely not recomended.

Terrible costumer service

After booking 2 rooms at angel guest house we were picked up at the air port and told we were going to the ‘best guest house’ in Maputo.
On arrival the receptionist insisted on a cash payment and left.
We soon realised that we had been taken to a totally different location to what we booked on line. The building was still under construction and was dirty and bare. They had obviously over booked the location we had booked online, and dropped us at another one, hoping we wouldn’t notice the difference.
After a difficult conversation with the security guard, who did not speak English, we were able to get him to phone the owner of this guest house on his personal phone. The owner was extremely rude, would not let me speak and kept hanging up on us.
Eventually we were able to contact the ‘receptionist’ who had left us there. She said she was unable to return until the next morning at 9am- our flight was at 7am.
By this time we had booked another hotel for the night, and they were refusing to return our cash. We had used all of the credit on the security guards phone and were left with no other options
Over all a terrible experience with the worst customer service. Do not book to stay here!!

Avoid. Sold our pre-booked rooms to someone else

I had booked 2 rooms months earlier through booking.com.
A week or so before I booked an airport pick-up through Angel Guest House and provided them with our flight details and arrival time.
Our flight from Inhambane was delayed by 3 hours, I emailed them to let them know this.
On arrival at Maputo Airport there was no one waiting.
We got a taxi to the Guest House and were told they were full. I pointed out that we had booked and emailed them about the delay, for some reason the member of staff found this funny and kept laughing at us.
They told us they had rooms for us in another hotel. This turned out to be a 15 minute drive away in a completely different part of town.
The hotel they sent us to was weird, a large building which appeared to be half way through being renovated.
Some of the rooms appeared to be being used "by the hour".
Reception wasn't always staffed but the door was wide open so the whole place felt pretty insecure.
A man who called himself the manager of Angel Guest House appeared, he also seemed to find the whole situation funny.
The only positives are that he discounted the extra amount we had to pay the taxi from the room price and the breakfast in the morning was good.
Checking my email that evening I found a message from the guest house in reply to my message about the flight delay. It just said "sorry only just picked this up". It was timed after we arrived in Maputo airport. This seemed to indicate that they hadn't read their emails that afternoon or bothered to see if the flight was delayed before re-selling the rooms.
Reading through other reviews this place seems to have a serious problem with double booking, it looks like we were lucky in that they actually had another room for us but it was miles away from where we wanted to be which meant we spent a lot of money on taxis to get to and from town.
Angel Guest House may be very nice, but do you really want to take the risk of being left without a room or in a distant part of town?

Disappointment

Hy guys. If you are going to visit Maputo, try to avoid Angel guest house. We made a reservation through Booking.com, and it was confirmed. But when we got there,we were sent to another place, and then again to another hotel, which was worse and more expensive. When we tried calling them, we got some woman on the phone and she said they are full and don't have free rooms. She was totally uncooperative. After three hours we had to find a new place to stay. It was a really unpleasant experience.
