A peaceful

We stayed at Swahili house for one night in August 2019.
Given the relative busyness and chaos of Malindi, Swahili House offered a green and peaceful respite. The building is beautiful and the rooftop terrace is a lovely place to relax. Rose was very welcoming and helpful, and we enjoyed spending time with the cats (especially Olivia), rabbit and guinea pigs.

Ditto to all reviews below - Well-located, fabulously appointed house

I agree with the previous reviewers. This house is well-designed and furnished, very comfortable. Rose and Sironi are very nice and helpful. Just a short tuk tuk ride to anywhere you want to go.
Loved Paka Meo, the resident feline who hangs around (but doesn't go in bedrooms or on couches or anything), as well as the yard rabbit and guinea pig.
No wifi, if that's an issue, but it's available in restaurants/other places.

Top place to stay in Malindi

This is a fantastic place to stay. I was let down by my safari company so I had an unexpected three nights at Swahili House and I couldn't have been happier.
Camilla has done a wonderful job of the decor, it is beautiful, with personal touches and very good quality furnishings in traditional Swahili style. It is spotlessly clean.
Rose the cook and housekeeper is wonderful, always willing to help and she can cook the food that you purchase. The Maasai guards the house and its very safe and secure.
I loved sitting on the roof terrace looking out to sea and hearing the sounds of the local neighborhood and the Mosque next door. Its a short tuk-tuk ride into the town or to the beach. I will definitely be back and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Malindi now.

I am very happy you loved to stay at Swahili House.
Thanks to you and hope to see you again here!
Just to clarify for who know the parternship between Swahili House and Bush Company, the safari company that has let you down was NOT Bush Company but another one..!

An incredibly beautiful house

My husband and I stayed one night at Swahili House recently, and wish we could have spent more time there. This is a really beautifully appointed small airy mansion (bed and breakfast) with three stylish main-floor bedrooms and an amazing open-air top floor terrace with lounge areas and swahili furniture and art. We loved it! It was extremely quiet and the house directly faces the sea; it is also situated beside a very popular seafood restaurant. It wasn't a very busy time when we visited, so we had the whole house to ourselves, and it was just incredible. Camilla, the owner, was lovely and gracious. The kind housekeeper Rose really made us feel at home and made us a tasty breakfast on the rooftop terrace in the morning, and Saroni was also so nice. Thanks again for everything!
