Delicious food on the Elbe dyke
At the end of March, three of us (2 adults, 1 child) were here for dinner in the early evening. First of all: the surroundings are very beautiful, directly behind the property is - as the name suggests - the Elbe dyke, along which you can walk for miles to the left or right. We did this before dinner and were hungry. At that time of day, the number of guests was still quite manageable, so we were served quickly and friendly. We ate 1 x the full fish duet, 1 x full vegetarian and the junior had the children's schnitzel plate. This included "normal" herb quark, but because of an allergy he wanted vegan quark. No problem at all, it was quickly replaced with a smile. All in all, a delicious meal and definitely worth recommending, both in terms of price and quality.

Quiet and relaxing holiday week
Very good accommodation, landlord and staff very friendly. The food selection included around 10 dishes - all very well prepared. Fantastic breakfast buffet, everything homemade! Pleasant, quiet location.

We had booked as a couple for 2 nights, the hotel, restaurant and Elbe landscape were an experience.
Our good impression was shattered on the day of departure after breakfast when we noticed the handwritten blackboard and text at the entrance to the hotel/restaurant. At first we couldn't believe what we read: a misogynistic and discriminatory invitation to men to visit the restaurant with their incompetent wives. The employees we spoke to found the text funny, and other guests were just as shocked.
We then felt compelled to email the management to get a statement. We were put off because we were on vacation and told to contact us when we returned. That didn't happen. A written reminder by email also went unanswered.
We suspect that the hotel management considers such misogynistic and discriminatory texts to be completely normal. For us the decision is clear: such a politically, socially and morally absurd attitude from a hotel management that has not taken a position on the matter is unacceptable to us. We as guests will not visit this hotel again and will not recommend it to others.

A gem out in the nowhere
We stayed in the holiday home of the hotel (approx. 800m away, along the river) and had breakfast and lunch in the main building. The area is special, somehow fallen out of time. Very special history as having been a restricted area right on the closed former German/German Border. Breath-taking views through the morning mist down the stream of the Elbe. Peace, quietness, maximum relaxation. A spacy and classy holiday home, a well-equipped, cosy little sauna and a totally surprising cuisine. We did not expect too much of a culinary surprise in this little corner of the earth. But the mixture of Ayurveda, regional products, traditional cuisine (like local venison) and spiced coffee just took our breath away. A huge variety on the breakfast buffet, from classic and health food porridges to local cold cuts, fresh fruit, great bread and so much more. If you’ve booked demi-pension like we did, you have the choice between to set meals. As experts know less choice often means better quality. We ordered both and just mixed among us. It didn’t matter anyhow it was perfect. What a surprise and it comes with family like service, maximum friendliness and flexibility – we had the greatest of times.

Unfassbare Ruhe + Toll herausgeputzter Gasthof
Wir waren zum ersten Mal an der Elbe in dieser Region und es hat uns gut gefallen. Dieser Gasthof liegt sehr schön ruhig direkt an der Elbe. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, hatten die Suite gebucht, die wirklich sehr schön gestaltet ist. Sowohl Gastraum als auch Terrasse sind sehr gemütlich und das Essen ist prima. Wir haben aufgrund der Ruhe sehr gut geschlafen, nur die Schafe auf den benachbarten Grundstücken machen ein wenig Lärm :-) Gestört haben wir uns ein wenig an den Hunden der anderen Gäste.
Ausflüge kann man mit dem Rad, zu Fuß und mit dem Auto in kleinere nahe gelegene Orte machen. Nachwievor stellt man große Unterschiede auf den beiden Seiten der Elbe in Stadtbild und Infrastruktur fest.
Es lohnt sich, den Alten Hof am Elbdeich zu besuchen!
