Very very good

I travel often in the region and I alway find this hotel one of the best options.
Modern and rational style of furniture in one area and old style rooms in the old building
Clean rooms with standard accessories.
Very good breakfast

Very disappointed

On 26.12.2024 we were at the Hirsch in Urlau at Christmas dinner. Business informed us a week in advance about the choice of food. We were promised a buffet of several dishes as well as pizza and live cooking from Kässpätzle. Unfortunately it started badly at the beginning and we got ice cold plates for the buffet. On request they said to us that we remember for the next time and we had to continue eating from cold plates. When we saw the selection of food we were really disappointed, unfortunately there was nothing we were promised in the buffet. The choice at the buffet was generally very small and for the children there were not even French fries or spaetzle, only on request and request, there was spaetzle. The taste of the food was unfortunately not very good either and some of it became very salty. For the vegetarians among us, there were a few salads and otherwise only side dishes a pity. During dessert we unfortunately found that the raspberries are already mouldy. Only when we passed this on were all the raspberries removed from the dessert.
The service also left a lot to be desired. We were asked in the 2 hours where we were on site only once what we want to drink. The plates were also eroded from our table and we had to put them on a free standing table next door.
When we talked to the visitors from the next table we found that they were also very dissatisfied. The family was not even informed that there will be a buffet dinner on 26.12.2024. They then decided against it and were allowed to choose food from the menu but then had to wait 1 1⁄2 hours for their food. This is not possible, especially when small children are involved. They also told us that they received the wrong drinks.
Finally, you can say that you can not recommend the economy and the food and service are definitely not worth this price!!!

Great experience

Wonderful atmosphere, very rustic and authentic. The food is very fine and has a varied taste, and there is a wonderful Hoigartä beer - highly recommended. There is also a seasonal menu and on Thursdays there is also an event catering with a live spaetzle show and music. An absolute gem.

Staff seemed unable to cope due to busy period, and were not as friendly as I'm used to in the south of Germany. There was a wedding on too so maybe due to that. Stlfling hot in room, and room Aircon control was not working. Great place though, would go back.

Comfy and quiet, and perfect starting place for our walk into the mountains. Great good and very helpful, informative staff.
