Luxurious and charming chateau, that has made all the right decisions
You get more than you pay for! We were visiting this place for a couple of nights on our way going south to the Cote d azur. Perfect!!
Come here for the food, the pool, the rooms and the hospitality!
The pool is a paramount, it’s literally huge and has a lot of space to chill around. Newly renovated. Towels are readily available. You can order drinks and the likes poolside from the friendly staff. The vibe at this pool is so chilled, and it still has room for children and their banter, because of its sheer size.
Food on the terrace restaurant: prices are REALLY fair, and the danish couple that manages this restaurant has got a great grasp of the concept of quality: Dishes with few local components, but with very high quality and very fresh bite to it. Choose between fish and meat. That’s it. Every bite is marvelous, but if you want a big plate stuffed with fries and garnish to fill you up with carbs, go elsewhere. We loved the food. The home baked bread is out of this world. We drank their 4 euro pastis also, as well as the Kir, which’s was a neat starter drink.
The rooms are newly renovated with beautiful decor, they feel very clean. Rooms are very hot, but this is south of France and you get a fan, not air condition (I don’t know any castles that can give you air con, for this price, so that’s that).
Service is also great. Everyone will go out of their way to help you. And make you feel like… you’re staying at a real chateau. Which you are!!!
My recommendation: Try this place!

What a place - what a staff!
Me and my wife went to Château de Fontager, as part of our 2024 summer vacation.
Everything about this magnificent place was an experience, and we simply loved the atmosphere there. Much to praise about the castle itself, the beautiful suroundings and history of the place, but the main reason we had an amazing stay was the staff, and due to them our stay will be something we’ll carry with us for many years.
The chef and his crew spoiled us with their amazing cuisine, the superb team of waiters and sommeliers all gave us very high level of service, and all of it done with warmth, presence, a smile and awareness to every guest. These amazing people made me and my wife feeling extremely relaxed, and not least, amused and entertaint.
We would not hesitate to go back there again.

Perfect moment in a magical place
Beautiful place and very quiet, and nevertheless close to the N7.
Very comfortable rooms, nice, perfectly clean, personalized and attentive welcome, multilingual staff, coffees, teas, etc.. courtesy in the hotel lobby, convenient for very early departures, the charm of a renovated building with quality and traditional materials.
Room booked on their website at 100 euros per night for 2!
A warm restaurant, thanks again to the attentive staff and also to the monumental fireplace. Traditional service and perfect table setting.
A small menu in the restaurant, but changed frequently and which ensures the quality of the products and their freshness.
Homemade for all the dishes served. Roasted cod on top and in perfect harmony with its roasted artichokes.
Even on the plate, softness...
Incredible sesame cake for shared plates as a starter.
Amateurs of sanitized places, pass your way.
One downside, we didn't stay there long enough, we will come back!

I can’t understand the difference in the ratings on this establishment ... The castle is beautiful certainly seen from the outside. We think we will have a nice stay ... but we are quickly disappointed ... room not at all corresponding to what we had booked but we can not offer us another one since the Pension is supposedly full (weird 4 cars on the parking) we are told that in addition you have to be happy because we have a beautiful view from our room ... in reality we overlook a sublime gross roof (see photos) Taken present but no TV in the room (yet on the site they highlight flat screen TVs) much noise in the corridors (day and night) while the room is not at all soundproof ... adorable staff but who do not speak French ... we explain that the Owner is Danish and that most of the employees are also. Bathroom with a bathtub/shower breaks mouth. No room to put our things down... Only positive the bedding was good. Very little consolation. Really a Quality/Award Scam. Pension to avoid at that Award.

Castle of fontager
Very nice castle, but unfortunately no one speaks French. Very complicated when you don't speak English or very little.
The bathroom in our room was really not practical. We almost slipped when we wanted to take a shower. Just enough space between the wall and the wall. No mixer, no garbage bag in the bathroom.
Carpeted stairs were room.
We wanted to make a pool table, unfortunately it was not possible because it was privatized.
Really unfortunate, the price was really not worth what we got.
