Beautiful quiet place

Beautiful upstairs room with terrace overlooking the canal.
Super friendly welcome. Perfect table d’hôtes and breakfasts.
Quiet .
Close to very nice donkeys...we keep the address. Great encounters.

Lovely stay

The accomodation was recently upgraded, with excellent beds, a very large bathroom and shower, and a mezzanine floor with 3 additional beds. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The table d'hote was excellent, with meals prepared with local produce. We stayed here at the start and end of a 5-day tour walking with donkeys, which was great fun!

Fenêtre sur Loire

Highly recommended. Lovely country accommodation offering chambres d'hôtes, also known as Bougres d'Ânes, near Melay in southern Burgundy. Our room overlooking the canal was spacious, quiet and clean with a large seating area. Comfortable double bed and wooden steps to 'mezzanine' floor with extra single bed just under sloping roof. Huge bathroom with enormous shower area. Electric kettle plus mugs for making own tea or coffee (sachets provided). Excellent base for visiting lots of interesting nearby places and a paradise for keen walkers with or without the donkeys (ânes) who carry your load, that can be rented by the day - clearly a great favourite with families with young children as well as adult holidaymakers. We received a warm welcome from Céline and Sandy who were always happy to help with local knowledge. Convivial, relaxed, friendly atmosphere and wonderful food expertly prepared by Sandy on those occasions we chose to eat our evening meal (4 courses including wine) there. The Charolais entrecôte steak was particularly memorable but all of the meals were excellent. Breakfast consisted of organic orange juice, fresh croissants, fresh bread and a array of homemade jams. Cereal and organic yogurt were also on offer and of course good french coffee. Our hosts were happy to speak English with guests and were great company.

Chez Sandy et Céline, vous ne trouverez pas une chambre d'hôte prétentieuse qui ressemble à une chambre d'hôtel impersonnelle. Vous allez être accueilli simplement et avec attention par un couple qui connaît par cœur le Charolais - Brionnais.
La table d'hôte est savoureuse. Des plats cuisinés maison avec des produits locaux par Sandy. Le service est soigné.
La décoration de l'ensemble de la ferme est assurée par Céline. Confort, chaleur, propreté, personnalité. Tout est bien.
Si vous voulez des randonnées, des circuits de vélo ou avec une âne rien que pour vous, demandez (à l'avance) à Céline de vous organisez ça (prestation d'agence de voyage très intéressante). Plusieurs possibilités de location de vélos à proximité.
Chez Fenêtre sur Loire, vous dominerez le canal de Roanne à Digoin et la Loire, et vous prendrez un repos bien mérité.
La "pisse d’âne" ? La bière blonde brassée pour Sandy. Elle est savoureuse et rafraichit les clients de la planète entière !
Pour moi, il faut rester sur place au moins deux nuits.

Von Menschen und Eseln

Wir waren Ende März die Ersten in diesem Jahr, die auf eine Eselwanderung im wunderschönen Brionnais aufgebrochen sind. Mit unserem Esel Hugo sind wir 4 wundervolle Tage gewandert und hatten dabei unglaublich viel Vergnügen und unbeschreibliche Erlebnisse mit unserem Begleiter. Zusammen mit der perfekten Vorbereitung der Tour durch Celine, den interessanten und vielfältigen Begegnungen und Gesprächen bei unseren Gastgebern Celine und Sandy, Catherine Aubard, Michele und Jean Guillon, Philip und Donatella bei "Peas and Love", sowie der tollen Verpflegung wird diese Wanderung zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis für uns. Hugo wir werden dich nicht vergessen! 5 Sterne für Bougres d‘ Anes!
